If you have never tried Pilates before or have been away from it for some time and would like to restart your Pilates practice, please join me in this 4 week course to introduce the wonders of Pilates. Afterwards why not join my regular sessions in Cranfield to continue that journey.

Back to Pilates!

Given everywhere all we see is ‘Back to School’ as the children head back it struck a chord for how September feels. Thank you to everyone who has been attending the Summer sessions – I hope you’ve enjoyed  the different challenges – but for those who have had a Summer break I hope you’ve had an enjoyable time and are now ready to get back to your Pilates.

September will be Spinal Rotation, particularly in the mid spine or thoracic spine where we can access a good range of movement. In this month we will also be working on the Saw exercise.  For those that know Pilates exercises  I know the Saw can be a bit of a Marmite situation – you either love it or hate it, but often it is because the technique is not always there to feel the real value of this wonderful exercise that challenges the spine in rotation, but is also a breathing exercise, waist trimming, a wonderful stretch for the spine and a hamstring stretch – what’s not to like.

It’s May and it’s Hip Month!

This month’s theme is the movements of the hips, specifically Hip Extension. With so much of our lives spent with our hips flexed as we sit for long periods we will be aiming to create an openness through the front of the hips and improving hip mobility – so looking forward to it, these are some of my favourite exercises. Enjoy.

I have a new Pilates Beginner’s Course starting 20th March for 4 weeks.

Venue will be Cranfield Methodist Church Hall 6 – 7pm.

February Focus

February focus will be on the neck and shoulders. 

Following on from the work in January on Alignment, Breath and Control we will be looking at the Neck and Shoulders – areas where we often hold so much tension. This can cause issues elsewhere in the spine and body as well as being a block for free movement.

Theme of the Month

Well done to everyone for your commitment over May and June where we focused on technique to enhance understanding of the Joseph Pilates repertoire of 34 mat-based exercises.  Really impressive to see the progress and improvement in the Principles of Pilates, especially control and precision.


In July we go back to focusing on a specific area – abdominal muscles.  The Abdominal Series from the 34 repertoire will be at the centre of all sessions – should be fun !!!

Interested in trying Pilates?

My Pilates for Beginners Course will be on Thursdays at 7.15pm in Astwood Village Hall, Main Street, Astwood.  4 sessions from 31st May to 21st June.

Course fee is £40 and covers all 4 sessions of 60 minutes each.   Mats  provided.

We will cover the principles of Pilates, the fundamental exercises and develop your technique so you are able to feel confident to join one of my regular classes if you wish.

Places will be limited to a maximum of 8 to ensure individual attention and feedback.
